Karel Deseure

Karel Deseure (1983) studied flute and orchestral conducting at the Royal Conservatoire in Brussels and continued his education in Berlin. Deseure started his career as an assistant conductor with various orchestras, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. He has developed into a versatile conductor, with a broad range of repertoire spanning across symphonic music as well as opera. Deseure has worked with prominent orchestras such as the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Liège Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, and the Residentie Orchestra of The Hague. In addition to working with established ensembles, Deseure is also active in the performance of contemporary music and regularly works with young composers. Deseure was appointed professor of orchestral conducting at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2019.
