What could be more in keeping with this year’s theme, The Cello Moves, than Dutch National Ballet soloist Timothy van Poucke and internationally renowned cellist Ella van Poucke? And yes! They’re brother and sister, too. The Cello Biennale asked them to co-produce a short dance and music programme together with choreographer Remi Wörtmeyer, first Dutch National Ballet soloist Riho Sakamoto and pianist Caspar Vos.
Ella van Poucke will also be performing as part of the Cello Biennale Quintet – a group consisting of National Cello Competition laureates from years past. The quintet was put together for the online edition of the Cello Biennale in 2020. Wijnand van Klaveren rearranged Prokofiev’s Visions Fugitives and songs by Tchaikovsky that will be sung by Maria Warenberg, quintet member Alexander Warenberg’s sister. All in the family!
