Matthias Pintscher

Matthias Pintscher (Germany, 1971) became successful as a composer at a young age. His work has been performed numerous times by orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. In The Netherlands, his compositions were regularly included in the programming of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. He has been on the faculty of The Juilliard School in New York since 2014.
Matthias Pintscher was appointed Music Director of the Kansas City Symphony in 2024 and is the principal conductor of the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra. He was the chief conductor of Ensemble intercontemporain from 2013 to 2024. He has appeared as a guest conductor with numerous orchestras in Europe, the United States, and Australia; recently, he has conducted the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
