Antony Hermus

Conductor

Few conductors have achieved the amount of success that Antony Hermus (The Netherlands, 1973) did at such a young age. After receiving his degrees in piano and orchestral conducting from the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg, he was appointed director of the opera and symphony orchestra in Hagen, Germany. He was the General Music Director of the Anhaltische Theater in Dessau (Germany) from 2009 to 2015, where his performances as conductor included parts of Wagner’s Ring des Nibelungen. When he left, he was named honorary conductor for his great services. He has since directed opera productions at the Paris Opera and the Dutch Touring Opera, among others, and has performed as a guest conductor with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bamberger Symphoniker, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

After his time as the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra’s primary guest conductor, the orchestra named him honorary conductor.

Since 2022, Antony Hermus has been the chief conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra, with which he accompanied the 12 violinists in the Finals of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels this year.
