Reinhard Latzko (Freising, Duitsland) is one of the most renowned and demanded pedagogues in Europe and a much sought-after professor for masterclasses all over the world. He studied cello with Jan Polasek, Martin Ostertag, and Heinrich Schiff. He has won prizes at various national and international competitions. From 1987 to 2003, Reinhard Latzko was the principal cellist of the SWR-Symphonieorchester Freiburg and has performed as a soloist with multiple European orchestras. For a number of years, he has also been successful as an orchestral coach at Het Balletorkest and Ensemble Resonanz in Hamburg, among others. In 1988, he succeeded Boris Pergamenschikow as professor at the Music Academy in Basel; a position he held until 2005. Since 2003, he has been a professor at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.
