Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Ottawa, 1991) studied at the University of Ottawa’s School of Music. He is renowned for his technical virtuosity and unique style, in which he combines classical music, metal, and music from the Middle East. He has created viral YouTube covers of famous metal bands such as Opeth, Meshuggah, and Pain of Salvation, was the regular cellist at the world tours of the Norwegian progressive rock band Leprous between 2016 and 2023, and co-founded the band Kamancello with kamancheh player Shahriyar Jamshidi, with whom he performed at the Biënnale in 2018.
