Emile Visser

Cello

Emile Visser (1973) studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Godfried Hoogeveen and Dmitry Ferschtman. Even before completing his classical study, he already became a member of Zapp4, a string quartet specialised in improvised music, jazz, pop, rock and ethnic music, which has achieved a reputation as one of the most unconventional and groovy string quartets in The Netherlands. Since 2002, Emile has been a regular member of the Metropole Orchestra as well as Metrocelli. He is also a member of Nikitov, an ensemble specialised in Yiddish music. For the Cello Biënnale in 2014, he collaborated with cellist Pepijn Meeuws to create the children’s show Cello! Cello! Ma non Troppo. He was also the soloist of the Hello Cello Orchestra that year and shared the stage with singer Nora Fischer and cellist Annie Tångberg in one of the Late Cello Nights.

In 2022, he and Annie Tångberg performed as soloists with the Metropole Orchestra in Bill Laurance’s new double concerto.
